The Egyptian giants only concluded their 2024/25 campaign last week, as their FIFA Club World Cup came to an end after their 4-4 draw against FC Porto. The record African champions were eliminated from the competition at the group stage but managed to accumulate $11.55 million (R206 million) for their exploits.
The North African giants will now head into an end-of-season break. It will not be a long layoff, however, because according to Al-Ahram newspaper, the Red Devils will return for pre-season training on 13 July. The same report states that five days later, the club will travel to the home of the 2010 FIFA World Cup champions to commence their pre-season camp.
The news comes just days after his former side, the Sea Robbers, confirmed that they too would be heading to the Iberian Peninsula to conduct their preparations ahead of the new 2025/26 season.
Last year, ahead of what would ultimately be Riveiro’s final campaign at the Orlando Stadium, the Vigo native also took the Soweto giants on a camp to his homeland. Now, ahead of his debut season with his new club, he will do the same.
