Tunisia Boss Previews Crunch Bafana AFCON Clash

Tunisia boss Jalel Kadri has urged his side to be ready for their decisive Africa Cup of Nations match against South Africa.

The Tunisia national team's head coach has given his thoughts on what his side can expect from Bafana Bafana heading into their decisive 2023 Africa Cup of Nations group-stage match.

The Carthage Eagles are staring at group-stage elimination as they prepare to face South Africa in their third and final match of Group E.

The 2004 African champions are yet to register a win at this edition of the tournament following a shock defeat to Namibia, before salvaging a draw against another continental giant in Mali on matchday two.

The north Africans will be looking to rectify this when they come up against Hugo Broos' charges as only a win will guarantee them progression to the knockout phase, and Tunisia coach Jalel Kadri has insisted his side needs to be wary of Bafana's varied attacks if they are to give themselves the best chance of claiming all three points on Wednesday evening.

"The nucleus of the team is from [Mamelodi] Sundowns, which has advanced attacking mechanisms, and we must react," the 52-year-old said in a pre-match press conference, as per Kooora.

"The South African national team has a diversified attack and plays direct and fast balls, and we must be ready."

Kadri did acknowledge that there is pressure to make it out of the group, but the Tozeur native seemed confident of his side overcoming their adverse situation.

"The pressure is there, but we must turn it into positive pressure, and we must play under any circumstances," he added.

"We have confidence in the players. The performance improved after the first match, and we have to be more effective and more lucky in this match."

The last time Tunisia failed to progress beyond the group stage of the continent's biggest football spectacle was in 2013, when South Africa last hosted the tournament.
