The Egyptian Football Association has officially announced the sacking of Rui Vitoria after their national team was eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations in the round of 16.

The 53-year-old tactician was unable to see out his four-year deal with the Pharaohs.
After failing to lead the record AFCON winners to a single victory in Ivory Coast, being eliminated by DR Congo in the first knockout round in the process, he has now been relieved of his duties as the men's national team manager.
An official statement from the EFA reads: "The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, following its meeting today to discuss the technical and administrative reports regarding the national team's participation in the 2023 African Nations Championship in Cote d'Ivoire 2023, decided to thank the Portuguese Rui Vitoria, the coach of the Egyptian national team, and his assistant staff, while studying the biographies of foreign coaches and presenting them at the next meeting.
"The Council decided to approve the appointment of Mohamed Youssef as general coach of the first Egyptian national team until a foreign technical director is selected and the rest of the staff is formed.
"Approval of selecting 2 trainers for external training
"Approval of the appointment of Captain Alaa Nabil as technical director of the Federation.
"Thank you to the technical staff of women's football.
"Approval of the protocol for managing and organising the Academy League in partnership with Setadat Sports Investment and Marketing Company and United Sports Company."

Vitoria has thus become the seventh manager to leave his heading coaching position during the continental showpiece.
