Algeria Announce 23-Man AFCON Squad

Algeria have announced their 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations and have snubbed one of their English Premier League stars.

Click through the gallery to which European-based stars will be in action for Algeria.

Leicester City duo, Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani have been included in the squad, while Watford's  Adlene Guedioura made the cut.

There was not spot for West Ham United winger, Sofiane Feghouli, who was a regular feature for the national side.

Some of the other European-based players included the squad are Napoli's Faouzi Ghoulam, Schalke's Nabil Bentaleb and Yacine Brahimi.

George Leeken's charges have been drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Senegal and Zimbabwe and will get their campaign underway against the Warriors on 15 January 2017.

Defenders: Mokhtar Belkhiter (Club Africain ,Tunisia), Mohamed Rabie Meftah (USM Alger, Algeria), Aissa Mandi (Real Betis, Spain), Hicham Belkaroui (Esperance, Tunisia), Liassine Cadamuro (Servette Geneva, Switzerland) , Mohamed Benyahia (USM Alger, Algeria), Ramy Bensebaïni (Stade Rennes, France), Faouzi Ghoulam (Napoli, Italy), Djamel Eddine Mesbah (FC Crotone ,Italy)

Midfielders: Adlène Guedioura (Watford, England), Saphir Taïder (Bologna, Italy), Nabil Bentaleb (Schalke 04, Germany), Mehdi Abeid (Dijon, France), Yassin Brahimi (FC Porto, Portugal), Rachid Ghezzal (Olympique Lyon, France)
