AFCON: Egypt & Morocco Run Riot

Egypt 3-0 Cape Verde

Egypt got their Group C campaign off to a flying start after drubbing Cape Verde 3-0 at Cairo International Stadium.

Rami Rabia gave the Pharaohs the lead midway into the first stanza and Omar Marmoush doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time.

Ibrahim Adel put the game to bed for the North African giants with 20 minutes remaining.

Senegal 1-1 Burkina Faso

Senegal were denied a winning start after Burkina Faso scored in the dying seconds to salvage a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Lions of Teranga within the first ten minutes.

However, Ousseni Bouda levelled matters for Burkina Faso deep in stoppage time.

Morocco 4-1 Gabon

Morocco had a perfect start in Group B after thrashing Gabon 4-1 courtesy of a brace by Hakim Ziyech at Stade Adrar.

Ziyech gave the Atlas Lions the lead after just ten minutes from the penalty spot and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a chance to equalise for Gabon also from the penalty spot six minutes later but he missed his spot-kick.

Ziyech eventually doubled the lead for the hosts on 26 minutes from another penalty and completed his brace and Aubameyang finally got on the scoresheet for The Panthers with a successful spot-kick five minutes before the break.

Brahim Diaz, however, restored a two-goal cushion for Walid Regragui's charges on the hour-mark and Ayoub El Kaabi ended the game as a contest eight minutes before time after making it 4-1.

Cote d'Ivoire 2-0 Zambia

Cote d'Ivoire had a winning start in Group G after a late 2-0 win over Zambia at Stade de la Paix.

Following a goalless first stanza, Jean-Philippe Krasso broke the deadlock for the Elephants with 17 minutes remaining.

Krasso secured the three points for the hosts with the second goal and completed his brace in the last six minutes.

Democratic Republic Of Congo 1-0 Guinea

Democratic Republic of Congo had a winning start in Group H after edging Guinea 1-0 at Stade des Martyrs Stadium.

Edo Kayembe scored the only goal for DRC just before the half-hour mark, as they got off the Group H campaign to a winning start.
