According to Sports Brief, Equatorial Guinea captain Emilio Nsue, 34, has called time on his international career.

The CF Intercity forward was recently suspended, along with teammate Ivan Salvador, for "serious indiscipline", as announced by his country's FA.

The Spanish-born player, in response, accused Equatorial Guinea's footballing body of corruption, alleging the misuse of funds and bonuses.

Journalist Owuraku Ampofo has since reported that the ex-Middlesbrough man has hung up his boots on the international stage with immediate effect, despite finishing the tournament in the Ivory Coast top of the scoring ranking.

Nsue struck five times in total, including a stunning hat-trick against Guinea-Bissau in the group stage.

His decision has also seemingly been confirmed by the nation's vice-president, Teodoro Nguema, who took to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night to acknowledge his achievements with the Nzalang Nacional.
