Versatility, for many players, can be seen as something positive. For others, it can be their Achilles heel.
Kaizer Chiefs' Ivan Bukenya is one such player as his ability to play in both defence and midfield has meant that he has had to face competition in two different departments.
So what is Bukenya's best position at Amakhosi?
Bukenya may not receive many chances in midfield this season as it will be extremely hard to break the cast Willard Katsande has set as the club's first-choice defensive midfielder. The only time Bukenya has featured in midfield was when Katsande was either suspended or injured. It's unlikely coach Steve Komphela will exclude Katsande based on tactical reasons, so we can expect very little opportunity for Bukenya in that department.
It's in defence where the youngster will most likely feature for the club. Bukenya has already started three times for the club in the backline this season, with Komphela seemingly impressed. Fellow centre back Siyanda Xulu is still be getting used to life at Chiefs and, at times, he has looked wobbly. Also, the Glamour Boys could still be looking to adequately replace former captain Tefu Mashamaite and with Bukenya looking the part, this may lead to a breakthrough season for him.
If you were Komphela, what position would you slot Bukenya in?
