On Tuesday, newly crowned Telkom Knockout champions Cape Town City came crumbling down off their stage of celebrations after they were defeated 4-0 by Platinum Stars, but they aren't the only club to lose after winning a trophy. Can you think of others?
Eric Tinkler's side were anointed TKO champions when they defeated Stuart Baxter's SuperSport United 2-1 on Saturday to win their first ever trophy.
The victory, of course, sparked celebrations for all at the club, and they continued when they returned to the Mother City on Sunday.
After much excitement, the boys had to shift their focus back to the Absa Premiership, where they sit top of the log. However, they couldn't keep the moment going as Platinum Stars humbled them in spectacular fashion.
A similar situation happened just over a year ago when Roger De Sa's Ajax Cape Town claimed the MTN8 trophy with a victory over Kaizer Chiefs. A few days after, they then lost to Mamelodi Sundowns and struggled for positive results for the rest of the campaign.
