The transfer window is always a busy one in the PSL, and a crazy statistic has shown Mzansi's top division has more players in it than any of Europe's top five leagues!
It is not uncommon to see a South African team announce seven or more signings in one transfer window, which is something very rarely seen across the European borders.
For example: Platinum Stars recently unveiled 13 new players for their senior side in a press conference, although it must also be noted that 12 of their players also left.
Do PSL sides go for quantity over quality? It would certainly seem so – of the 16 teams in South Africa's top flight, there are 605 players registered!
According to Transfermarkt, the English Premier League, which has 20 teams, has just 571 players on its books, while the Spanish La Liga has just 448 players.
The German Bundesliga (588), the Italian Serie A (585) and the French Ligue One (547) all have fewer players than the PSL, despite the fact that they all have four teams more than Mzansi's top league.
During transfer windows in Europe, as it is now, we often see teams strengthening with one or two players, who can add value their already strong sides.
This way, we see teams with greater chemistry overseas, while in South Africa teams tend to lack consistency due to the constant changing of personnel.
Do you think PSL teams should rethink their transfer dealings?
