Hello fellow Buccaneers! The Soweto Derby is just a few days away and Eric Tinkler will already be pondering over what changes to make following last night’s draw with Free State Stars. One decision is surely about who should be in goal…
Much has been made about how Brighton Mhlongo commanded his goal last night, and how much of a disappointment the youngster has been.
The club showed faith in him by keeping him as first choice despite securing the services of Siyabonga Mpontshane, but it seems that his position is a rather precarious one.
Yes, Mhlongo is young and was thrown into the deep end, but there comes a time when changes need to be made and maybe that should begin with the derby.
The youngster is often seen struggling to control his backline and assert a commanding presence in the area, and that has often resulted in some soft goals being conceded.
Against a team like league leaders Chiefs, experience is needed - especially in a match as big as the Soweto Derby - and that is exactly what Mpontshane brings. Maybe he should start on Saturday? I think so…
Do you agree with this?
