Mpho Makola has full bag of tricks and flicks, and is one of the more skilful players in the Premier Soccer League. For Orlando Pirates this season, we have seen Bibo’s skills being utilised in many positons, but where should he be played on a permanent basis?
In this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, the Bucs playmaker lets us is on which position he feels most comfortable in. He said that despite him being versatile enough to star in more than two positons, he prefers to play just behind the striker.
“In some games you’re limited, and that’s part of the game. Having said that, I feel comfortable playing as a number 10 or a number eight because it gives me more freedom. I can actually see everything. I can take players on and I’m not limited. I can even take shots at goal, you know,” he said.
“I can play in different positions, left-wing, right-wing, behind the striker and as a number eight. Obviously I always try to give it my best in whatever position, but the games differ and we play different teams all the time, so in some games it’s going to be a bit tougher and in some games it becomes easier to do whatever you want to do,” Makola added.
In all honesty, we are yet to see the best of Makola and maybe narrowing him down to one position could unlock his true potential.
Which position do you think Makola should permanently start in?
