With the retirement of Toni Kroos, Los Blancos are understood to be contemplating who their resident set-piece taker will be.

There are a number of possible candidates who could assume the responsibility of corners and long-range free kicks, but set-pieces that are seemingly not up for debate are short kicks and penalties.

Those have reportedly been delegated to Los Merengues' superstar forwards Vinicius and Mbappe.

Since the beginning of last season, the Brazilian winger has been Real's designated spot-kick taker, and according to Marca, that will not change despite the Bondy native's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Sao Goncalo native scored all three of the penalties he took for the Spanish and European champions last season, but the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is prolific in his own right from 12 yards out, during his time with Paris Saint-Germain and with the French national team.

As per Transfermarkt, of the 52 penalties Mbappe has taken throughout his career, he scored with 42 of them, achieving an 80.7% success rate from the spot.

The aforementioned Spanish publication states that this will not change the hierarchy regarding penalty-taking at Real, but added that the skilful attacker will be responsible for short free-kicks.
