Manqele: These Are The Players Chiefs Should Sign

Kaizer Chiefs are actively bolstering their squad for the upcoming season, having already secured the signings of goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, and defenders Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley.

However, the team's ambitions don't stop there, as they aim to further enhance their roster with additional talent.

Former Amakhosi striker Edward Manqele, in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, expressed his views on the strategic signings that could potentially restore the team to its former glory. Manqele emphasized the need for more attacking prowess, reflecting on the previous season's challenges where the team, despite maintaining clean sheets, struggled to convert opportunities into victories.

"For me, I think they should sign more attacking players for next season. If you look at last season there was a time when the team went six games with clean sheets but they were not scoring goals to win games. That means the defence was good but the attack was not good enough," Manqele told the Siya crew.

He suggested several potential signings that could invigorate Chiefs' offensive line-up.

"So, that's why I think they should sign the players I have mentioned. You know Khanyisa Mayo knows the local game and he has been among the top goal scorers for almost three seasons now and Fiston Mayele is doing well in Egypt. As for Elias Mokwana, Jayden Adams and Ashwin Appollis they are going very well for their teams as well as Bafana Bafana. We all know what Gaston Sirino can do and he comes with experience. If Chiefs can sign these players they will be a team to beat this coming season. They will get competing for silverware once again," Manqele observed.

In addition to recruiting new talent, Manqele also highlighted the importance of strategic player loans to foster growth and experience among the younger squad members.

"There are players like the youngsters who, if the coach feels won't play a major role this season, can be loaned out to gain game time and experience. Players like Wandile Duba, Sabelo Radebe, Samkelo Zwane, Aden McCarthy and others. They are good players but maybe not yet ready to step up and a loan move could play an important role in their careers," Manqele told Soccer Laduma.
