Good morning Khosi fans! As the return of PSL action draws ever closer, Stuart Baxter will have to ponder several questions regarding his line-up. First up, Itumeleng Khune or Brilliant Khuzwayo?
The story of the two shot-stoppers has been recited more often than the PSL coaches blaming the referees for the outcome of the games, but it is a story that remains valid even in 2015.
When news broke back in September that Khune was destined for a long injury lay-off, fans were highly concerned about how the team would perform. However, after seeing Khuzwayo deputise ever so brilliantly, concerns disappeared as quickly as Gavin Hunt’s runs up and down the box.
When Khune was in goal for the start of the campaign, he had conceded just one league goal and seemed destined to lead the team to greatness. But in stepped Khuzwayo and a massive spanner was thrown into the works.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper made his debut for the season in the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates, and it was his terrific saves which saw Amakhosi lift the silverware.
Since then, fans have taken to Khuzwayo just as they warmly as they embraced Khune, and have already cloaked him an honoury member of the Black and Gold for his seven clean sheets in 13 games.
Now, with Khune fit and ready to play, and when Chiefs head over to Bloemfontein Celtic next Wednesday, the question that will be on everyone’s lips is: ‘Who will Baxter pick between Khune Or Khuzwayo?’
Khosi, who would you choose to mind the goals?
