Top Five Over-35 Footballers

Top Five Over-35 Footballers

In Fan Park today, we take a look at the best five footballers that are still active and over the age of 35.

Antonio Di Natale

The Udinese striker has been playing for what seems like forever. At the age of 37, he is still able to score goals regularly, netting 11 times in 13 appearances this season. He has been Serie A's top scorer twice already, and is always in the race, and he may do it yet again this season, given his impressive performances this season.

Gianluigi Buffon

It's difficult to imagine how much football will lose the day Gianluigi Buffon decides to hang up his boots, but you can be sure that it will be a very sad day. He has been rock solid in goal for both Juventus and Italy for well over a decade and still boasts the distinction of being the most expensive goalkeeper of all time. Juventus' defensive record this season of only have conceded five goals in 13 Serie A matches shows that Buffon is showing no signs of slowing down

Frank Lampard

The highest scoring midfielder in Premier League history is showing no signs of calling it quits on his career, despite being 36-years-old and having left Chelsea, who he spent over a decade with. To emphasize just how good he still is, he has the best minutes per goal ratio in this season's Premier League, averaging a goal every 68.33 minutes.

Andrea Pirlo

Pirlo has already established himself as one of the finest passers of the ball that we have ever seen, and at the age of 35, he doesn't seem to be finished with showing off his incredible skill. This season, he has scored on three occasions and assisted another goal in just nine appearances. His passing accuracy is over 86% and he can compete with any midfielder in the world. He could probably play until he's 45 and still be great!

Francesco Totti

There's definitely something about Italy that allows players to play until they're pushing 40 and the finest example of this is Roma's one-club-man, Francesco Totti, who has been a talisman at his club for over 20 years. I just 13 appearances this season, Totti has scored four goals and assisted another five, proving that, with age, comes brilliance… Much like a fine wine for that matter.

These guys careers have stood the test of time, and they are somehow able to defy the laws of nature to keep playing at such a high level. It's incredible that they are still able to do what they do!

Who do you think is the best over-35 player?
