Skeem Saam recognise Williams
Ronwen Williams certified himself as a national hero over the weekend in Bafana Bafana's win over Cape Verde with his incredible saves during the game and the penalty shoot-out.
Williams has kept four clean sheets at this year's Africa Cup of Nations and will hope to do so again when Hugo Broos' side clash with Nigeria's Super Eagles.
The Mamelodi Sundowns keeper became an overnight household hero after his performance on Saturday, to the point where his heroics were lauded on a popular SABC 1 soapie, "Skeem Saam."
"Skeem Saam" viewers shared a clip of Monday's episode, where Masilo Magoro's character Charles Kunutu asked another character if they knew that Bafana will be playing in the AFCON semi-finals for the first time since 2000.
"What Ronwen Williams did is what we call patriotism. Defending his country will all his being," said Charles Kunutu.
