It's an age-old saying that records are meant to be broken, but there are certain records in the football world that may never be breached. Today, we bring you those special accomplishments.
Eight unbreakable football records:
8) This one is for all the goalkeepers. Sao Paulo keeper Rogerio Ceni has scored more than 123 goals in his career. In second place is former Paraguay shot-stopper Jose Luis Chilavert, who has 64 goals.
7) Many think Pele is the highest goalscorer in the world, but he is not! That accolade goes to Josef Bican, who scored 1 468 goals in 918 career matches.
6) Spanish giants Real Madrid managed to win five consecutive European Cups from 1955 to 1960.
5) The 1950 World Cup final between Brazil and Uruguay attracted a huge crowd – the official attendance for the game is listed as 173 850 tickets sold, but unofficial estimates claim almost 210 000 people were in the stadium to watch the match.
4) A game between AS Adema and SO Emyrne played on 31 October 2002 has gone into the Guinness Book of World Records for producing the biggest scoreline in club football. Protesting against poor refereeing, Emyrne scored 149 own goals in a match. The result? 149-0.
3) Scottish side Glasgow Celtic won the European Cup in 1967 with a team consisting of players born and raised in the vicinity of their own stadium.
2) Ali Daei holds the record for most goals scored in international matches. In a career spanning 13 years and 149 games, he managed to score an impressive 109 goals for Iran.
1) French striker Just Fontaine scored an impressive 13 goals at the 1958 World Cup.
Which one of these records, if any, do you think will fall?
