The Fan Park crew has done some digging to reveal a few more players who've put themselves back on the map this season.
Jeremy Menez
The French player left PSG last season to join AC Milan on a free transfer, after he warmed the bench for most of the season. His lack of club football kept him out of France's national team, and first team football was what he desperately needed. In a change of fortunes, Menez has scored 12 times and provided two assists this season - and has been the standout performer for the Italian giants.
Alex Song
The retired Cameroon international joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2012, with many wandering where he'd fit in their star-studded team. Needless to say, he didn't and was often seen sitting on the sidelines watching on. This season, he joined West Ham on loan from the Catalan club and has been a solid addition to their side in an unexpected campaign where they are in contention for a place in Europe. Song is reportedly keen on signing a permanent deal with the London club come the end of the season.
Iker Casillas
He's not a player that you'd expect to see on this list, but Casillas has found himself playing more regular first team football this season compared to last season – where he only managed one La Liga game! Casillas came under tremendous pressure during his dip in form, but he has shown signs of getting back to his best and has helped Real enjoy a flying start to the current season.
Lucas Leiva
When he plays well, it goes under the radar, but when he gives one ball away, the fans call for his head. However, the Brazilian midfielder has played an important role for Liverpool this season. In his 14 Premier League starts, the Reds have only lost one of those games. Perhaps the midfielder has found his feet in England after a few injury-stricken seasons.
Cesc Fabregas
The Spanish midfielder was set to be a star at Barcelona when he joined them from Arsenal, but he never quite found his place in the side. Although he made an impressive total of 19 assists in La Liga last season for Barca, most of his appearances were from the bench while he was also used in a false nine role at times. This season he's been Chelsea's star midfielder, already having provided 15 assists in just 21 league games.
