Mathoho and his Chiefs team have not had the best of fortunes of late. Not only did they come within 20 minutes of winning the league last season, they have also endured a dismal start to the current one.
On the opening day of the league, they were walloped 3-0 by reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, while a few weeks later they suffered back-to-back defeats against rivals Orlando Pirates.

In off the field matters, Mathoho recently had reason to celebrate as he and his long-term partner Tiyani Mashaba celebrated their 5th anniversary back in October.
While they keep their relationship private and confidential, the couple cannot hide their affection for one another as seen in the occasional Instagram post.
