Cameroon Captain Calls For Peace After South Africa Controversy

The Cameroonian football team has called for peace between Samuel Eto'o and their head coach Marc Brys following the team's controversial trip to South Africa recently.

There has been a tremendous amount of turmoil surrounding the Indomitable Lions in recent months. The president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Samuel Eto'o, has reportedly been at loggerheads with the national team boss Marc Brys and the nation's sports ministry.

Ahead of their recent FIFA World Cup qualifier against Eswatini, the Belgian tactician was vocal about not being able to have his assistant, Joachim Mununga, alongside him, as he alluded to the tension with FECAFOOT as a defining reason.

Ultimately, the Indomitable Lions' trip to face Eswatini was not a successful one, not only because they drew with the continental minnows, but because of the logistical difficulties surrounding their arrival at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The Indomitable Lions are thought to have arrived at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg the day before the match. However, their late arrival led to the cancellation of their connecting flight to Nelspruit.

As a result, the team reportedly had to travel by bus from Johannesburg to Nelspruit that can take as long as four hours which reportedly meant that they arrived at their hotel at around 4am on the morning of the match.

Manchester United goalkeeper claimed that the experience in South Africa was "unacceptable".

Prior to their 3-1 victory over Libya earlier this week, the team, led by captain Vincent Aboubakar, held a press conference urging the powers that be to put their differences aside for the sake of the team.

"We recently completed an important qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations and are continuing our efforts to take Cameroon to the next World Cup. We are fully committed to these missions and, for that, we need stability and serenity around our team," the veteran attacker said, as per Africasoccer.com.

"Allow the coach who works with us on a daily basis to work with peace of mind, particularly by allowing him to have his assistant."
