Bafana Rival Watch: Nigeria Bag First Win

Nigeria secured a 2-0 win over Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Group C

Rwanda 0-2 Nigeria 

Nigeria got their first win in the qualifiers after defeating Rwanda 2-0 on Friday evening.

The Premier Soccer League was represented on both sides as Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari started for the hosts while Chippa United's Stanley Nwabali was in goals for Nigeria.

Talisman Victor Osimhen opened the scoring for the Super Eagles in the 11th minute by turning home Ademola Lookman's free-kick.

The Galatasaray striker went on to double the lead on the stroke of halftime with a lovely lob over Ntwari.

Group F

Burundi 0-1 Cote d'Ivoire

Cote d'Ivoire got back to winning ways in the qualifiers after defeating Burundi 1-0 on Friday night.

Evann Guessand got the game's only goal in the 16th minute to send the Elephants top of the log.

Group G

Botswana 1-3 Algeria

Algeria cemented top spot in the group after defeating Algeria 3-1 on Friday afternoon.

Amine Gouiri and Mohammed Amoura put the visitors two goals up.

Tebogo Kopelang pulled one back for Morena Ramoreboli's side n the 70th minute before Amoura sealed the win for Algeria with his second goal four minutes later.

Group I

Ghana 5-0 Chad

Ghana reclaimed top spot in Group I with a 5-0 thrashing of Chad on Friday night.

The Black Stars raced into a three-goal lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams and Jordan Ayew.

Mohammed Salisu made it 4-0 in the 56th minute before Ernest Nuamah rounded off the scoring with 20 minutes left on the clock.
