The story

Despite Monnapule Saleng's situation still hanging in the balance, the Bafana Bafana international was wished a happy birthday by Orlando Pirates' social media team on Thursday morning, with the North-West born winger celebrates his 27th trip around the sun today.

The baller was able to get some game time for South Africa in the CHAN first-leg qualifier against Egypt. 

Still, his situation with the Buccaneers remains uncertain after the Siya crew reported that he's yet to rejoin Jose Riveiro's set-up despite being released early from last week's national duty. 

Saleng last featured for the Sea Robbers on 7 December, when he played the 90 minutes in a goalless draw against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League at the Orlando Stadium. 

Since then, Saleng has been left out of the matchday squads, with rumours circulating about a failed move and contractual disputes as the potential reasons for his absence. 

With the league slowly slipping away from Pirates' grasp and an important final stretch of the season that includes the defence of the Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League knockouts, there's no doubt that the Happy People would welcome Saleng's inclusion on the right wing to help them negotiate this key part of the season.  

Before being iced out of the squad, Saleng managed six goal contributions in 13 appearances, including a stellar performance in the MTN8 final where he scored the opener against Stellenbosch FC in Durban.
