African Star's Hat-Trick Sends Man City Fourth

Egypt international Omar Marmoush bagged a hat-trick as Manchester City defeated Newcastle United 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

City coach Pep Guardiola rang the changes after the loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday, as January signings Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and  Nico Gonzalez were recalled along with Phil Foden.

The home side got the opening goal in the 18th minute when goalkeeper Ederson picked up an assist as his long ball released Marmoush, who lobbed Matt Dubravka.

The lead was doubled in the 24th minute as Marmoush completed his brace by collecting a pass from  Ilkay Gundogan before cutting inside and firing into the bottom corner.

The first half Belonged to the Egyptian forward, who completed his hat-trick in the 33rd minute by turning home Savinho's low cross, making three goals in 14 minutes.

Newcastle responded with a double change at the start of the second half, with Lewis Miley and Tino Livramento replacing Joe Willock and Kieran Trippier.

The hosts had to wait until the hour mark for their first sight at goal as a neat passing move ended with substitute Lewis Miley seeing his powerful strike turned away by Ederson.

Marmoush's evening came to an end in the 76th minute as he made way for Jeremy Doku while James McAtee replaced Foden in the attack. 

City were able to round off the scoring with six minutes left on the clock as Haaland turned provider to set up McAtee, who volleyed home from close range.
