Wydad 'Arrive' At Verdict Over Mailula's Future

After a slow start to life in Casablanca, it seems that the South Africa international is slowly finding his feet at the Red Castle.

The 23-year-old arrived at Wydad after struggling for game time in Major League Soccer with Toronto FC, and at the beginning of his career in Morocco, it seemed it would be a continuation of his tenure in Canada as he failed to contribute any goals in his first nine matches in all competitions.

However, since scoring the winning goal against FUS Rabat in the league, the Ga-Molepo native has assisted three goals in recent matches, making it four goal contributions from his last six.

This recent run of form has supposedly impressed the chiefs of the record Moroccan champions. According to Al-Qanah, the club have been urged by the player's agent to complete his permanent acquisition ahead of the transfer window.

The same report claims that Wydad have agreed to proceed with a deal and want Mailula's representative, Karabo Mathang-Tshabuse, to travel to Casablanca in January to finalise the agreement. It is alleged that the club are wary of the forward maintaining his performances only until the FIFA Club World Cup, at which point he will be returning to his parent club.
