Some Barcelona chiefs are reportedly prepared to make a surprise call on the future of their talisman Robert Lewandowski.

The Pole seemingly rediscovered his absolute top form at the start of the season. So far during the 2024/25 campaign, the Warsaw native has scored 23 goals in 24 appearances for the Blaugrana.
While that is an impressive tally for any forward, Lewandowski has only managed to find the back of the net once during his last five outings in the Spanish top flight. This has allegedly become a cause for concern among the Barca chiefs, and according to Sport, some are weighing up possibly selling the Pichichi frontrunner at the end of the season.
The Poland national team captain turns 37 next year, and because he is the only quality number nine that the club currently has, the executives are wary that continually relying on an ageing Lewandowski could adversely affect the team's prospects of winning titles.
Despite this, head coach Hansi Flick believes in his star's capabilities to still perform at a world-class level, and it seems that he will only leave under exceptional circumstances if he departs at the end of the campaign.
The same report, however, suggests that the club want to recruit a forward who will be able to compete with Lewandowski so as not to place all the goalscoring burden on him.
