Pep Hits Back At 'Sacked In The Morning' Chants

Pep Guardiola has hit back at Liverpool fans who chanted that he should be "sacked in the morning" during Manchester City's 2-0 loss to the Premier League table-toppers.

The Citizens' winless run was extended to seven matches in all competitions as their latest loss came at the hands of Arne Slot's charges.

Towards the end of the match, the chant of "sacked in the morning" rang throughout Anfield, as the Spaniard has failed to win in his last four league visits to Merseyside.

In response to the antagonistic crowd, the 53-year-old smirked, turned around and raised six fingers to signify the number of league titles he has won since taking charge of the Manchester club.

When asked what he thought about the Reds' supporters mocking him in that way, Guardiola suggested that he expected better from the club's fans.

"All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton (in a 2-1 loss at the Amex)!" he started off by saying on Sky Sports.

"Maybe they are right with the results we've been having. I didn't expect that at Anfield. They didn't do it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should have sung it in the past.

"I didn't expect it from the people from Liverpool but it's fine, it's part of the game, and I understand completely. We've had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them."

The Santpedor native recently inked a new two-year extension to stay at the Etihad Stadium, so a dismissal at this stage is highly unlikely.

However, he will know that the need to turn things around is urgent considering their current form in the league.
