On Saturday evening, Wydad Athletic Club and Ittihad Tanger played out a 2-2 draw in the Botola Pro Inwi.

In his post-match press conference, the South African tactician claimed that a member of the opposing technical team hurled racial slurs at him.

The Red Castle has since released a statement condemning the supposed incident, but now Tanger's head coach, Hilal Et-Tair, has come to the defence of his technical team.

Speaking to Radio Mars, the Moroccan manager revealed that the person in question is a member of the team's medical staff, who says he did not anything racist to the former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach.

"The person concerned confirmed to me that he did not utter any racist phrases, and I saw him heading towards the match referees to shake hands with them after the end of the match, at the same time that Mokwena was talking to the referees," the 50-year-old said.

"I reprimanded the member of our team's medical staff the next day for his positioning in the middle of the Wydad coach and the match referees, while the field area exceeds 120 metres, and the person concerned confirmed to me that he did not direct any insults at Mokwena, and that he celebrated Ittihad Tangier's goal in a normal manner in the stands."

Wydad currently find themselves sixth on the table after 10 matches, having won only three league games this season so far.

Their draw at the weekend means they are eight points adrift of league leaders RSB Berkane, who have lost only one of their 10 opening games.
