Chiefs Star Misses Out On National Team Call-Up, Pirates Star Selected

One of Kaizer Chiefs' most prominent players this season has been snubbed for yet another national team call-up, while an Orlando Pirates attacker successfully made the cut.

Inacio Miguel has been an important figure for the Glamour Boys this campaign. Apart from their 2-2 draw against Magesi FC in the league, the central defender has started every match for the Soweto giants.

The 28-year-old has been hailed by many for his leadership qualities and his tenacity; however, his performances for his club side are yet to capture the attention of his national team manager, Pedro Soares Goncalves, as he has not selected him for Angola's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Antelopes have already successfully qualified for the continental showpiece in Morocco next year, but will be rounding off their qualification campaign against Ghana and Sudan during the upcoming international break.

The 28-year-old made his debut for the national team under Goncalves but has not played for the Portuguese tactician since their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in 2023.

While Miguel may not have made the cut, his compatriot in the Premier Soccer League, Gilberto, has.

Unlike his defensive counterpart, the 23-year-old has struggled for game time since completing his move to Orlando Pirates this past off-season, starting only two of the matches the Buccaneers have played so far this season.

Regardless, he has received yet another call-up to the national team and will be looking to add to the 14 appearances he has already made.
