Patrice Motsepe's first term as head of African football's governing body is nearing its conclusion.

The South African businessman has been in charge of CAF since 2021, but come 2025, executives from all over the continent will need to decide who will succeed the former Mamelodi Sundowns chairman.

According to Egyptian journalist Mohammed Saied, as per WinWin, those who wish to throw their hat into the ring to become the next CAF president will have until 12 November 2024.

While clear candidates are yet to be established, the same report claims that 12 March 2025 will be the date when the elections will be held.

While the most prestigious position up for grabs will be that which is currently occupied by Dr Motsepe, there will also be elections for other positions within the CAF executive committee, as well as CAF representatives within FIFA.

The election will reportedly be held at the Marriott Mena House in Cairo, Egypt.

Motsepe has received a lot of public backing from fellow African football executives to run for a second term, but the Pretoria native has remained coy whenever asked if he aspires to continue in his current role beyond 2025.
