Mohamed Salah has broken an all-time African record in the UEFA Champions League after scoring in the competition yet again earlier this week.

Liverpool continued their 100% record in Europe this season on Wednesday night, when they defeated Bologna 2-0 at Anfield.

They are one of seven teams to have won both their games in the tournament thus far.

Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for the Reds in the 11th minute, and on hand to double their lead in the 75th minute was Salah.

With that goal, the Egyptian surpassed Didier Drogba to become the outright highest-scoring African footballer in Champions League history, having put the ball into the back of the net 45 times in the competition.

It took Ivory Coast's record goalscorer 92 matches in the Champions League to score 44 goals, with Salah breaking the record in even quicker time.

The match against the Italians was the winger's 81st game in Europe's premier club competition.

Of the 45 Champions League goals the Pharaohs captain has scored, 42 of them came as a Reds player.

The Nagrig native also made more history on the night, though, becoming the first Liverpool player to score in five successive home Champions League games too.

In the process, the 32-year-old becomes only the third player to achieve the feat for a Premier League side, following in the footsteps of Thierry Henry with Arsenal and Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.
