On Monday, the ex-Barcelona and Inter Milan forward was slapped with a six-month ban from attending any international games.

The 43-year-old has been the president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) since 2021 and has been caught up in several controversies in recent years.

FIFA's ban relates to two charges Eto'o had been facing from an incident that followed a round of 16 match between Cameroon and Brazil at the U20 Women's FIFA World Cup.

While world football's governing body did not specify what happened, Eto'o was adjudged to have broken disciplinary rules with "offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play".

"The ban imposed on Mr. Eto'o prevents him from attending men's and women's matches involving (Cameroon) teams of all categories and age groups," FIFA said.

The ruling will see the African legend miss the Cameroon men's teams FIFA World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches between now and March 2025.

Eto'o, who also had playing spells in England, Turkey, Russia and Qatar in his football career, scored 56 times for the Indomitable Lions in 118 appearances.
