Date Set For Rulani's Wydad To 'Return Home'

A date has now reportedly been set for Rulani Mokwena and his Wydad Athletic Club side to return to their traditional home stadium.

For the entirety of last season, both of Morocco's largest clubs, Wydad and Raja Club Athletic, played their home games away from home.

The reason for that is because both clubs' original home stadium, the Stade Mohamed IV, was closed due to renovations being made for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations the country will be hosting and the 2030 FIFA World Cup they will be co-hosting alongside Spain and Portugal.

It has presumably been difficult for both sets of supporters to have to play home games at a different stadium, but the clubs themselves have seemingly taken the biggest hit in the ordeal as they have been unable to collect matchday revenue, depriving them of major potential profits.

Both the Red Castle and the Green Eagles were initially scheduled to return to the ground in March 2025, but according to winwin, the renovations have been expedited and the Casablanca-based teams are now set to return to the Stade Mohamed IV as soon as January.

Both clubs have not enjoyed ideal starts to the new Botola Pro Inwi campaign as Mokwena's men have lost, won and drawn their opening three league matches. In the case of Raja, due to their CAF Champions League commitments, they have played only one match in the league so far, starting off the campaign with a defeat.
