This past weekend, the South African football executive, along with the rest of CAF's executive committee, were in Kenya to visit two stadiums that are set to host matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 2027 edition of the continental spectacle will be the first time the competition is hosted in three different nations, with Tanzania and Uganda also poised to co-host the showpiece.

The Motsepe-led organisation also confirmed the dates of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship 2024, and while the president spoke highly about the facilities of the east African nations poised to host a set of major competitions, he was also critical about African nations and clubs that have to play their home fixtures outside of their respective countries due to poor maintenance of stadia.

"There's nothing that frustrates me more than a national team or football club having to play their home games outside," the former Mamelodi Sundowns chairman said, as per CAFTV.

"You can't build football in any country in Africa if their national team or football clubs do not play in front of their nations."

The sentiment comes after it was reported that Ghana no longer have a suitable stadium to host their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after CAF banned the use of the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. The Black Stars will have to play their next qualification encounters outside of the country as a result.
