CAF has reportedly banned an African powerhouse from using one of their iconic stadiums, forcing them to play outside the country for the next set of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In their first AFCON 2025 qualifier against Angola, Ghana lost at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi for the first time in 24 years when they were defeated 1-0.
The last time the Black Stars had been thwarted at the venue was when Bafana Bafana beat them during the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations.
Since that night, the Baba Yara Stadium had been a fortress for the four-time African champions, but that historic run came to a screeching halt last Thursday, and fans were so livid with the result that they stormed the pitch.
Ghana's misery regarding the stadium has now been compounded, with CAF having reportedly decided that the venue is not suitable to host any international fixtures for the foreseeable future.
According to GhanaSoccernet, the primary concern from the Patrice Motsepe-led body is the condition of the playing field. Uneven surface, poor drainage and inadequate grass cover has contributed to the venue failing to meet the required standards for hosting Category 3 international matches.
The same report claims that, in the letter that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) received from CAF, the Egyptian-based institution highlighted previous concerns about the conditions of some of the stadiums in the country.

As a consequence, CAF have reportedly ordered that the GFA finds alternative venues for the west African giants to host their next AFCON qualifying matches.
