Siya sources have informed the crew that Roy Keane Avontuur and Stellenbosch have parted ways by mutual consent.
The youngster recently returned from the United Kingdom where he was part of Stellies' Next Generation Cup squad. It was expected that the 21-year-old would form part of coach Steve Barker's squad for the 2024/25 season.
He spent the last campaign out in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with relegated NB La Masia with the hope of getting regular game time.
However, the Cape Winelands outfit opted that it would be best for the two parties to go their separate ways.
Many would remember that Avontuur made history for the club back in 2020 when he featured in a top flight match against Moroka Swallows aged just 17 years and two months old.
He made five appearances for Stellies in total.
At 21, there is still an opportunity for the Atlantis-born star to rekindle his once-promising career, though it remains to be seen where he will be plying his trade next season.
