Mamelodi Sundowns have yet to register their Ethiopian forward Abubeker Nassir ahead of the new season as they await Tanzanian side Young Africans to finalise a deal, the Siya crew understands.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Yanga have shown interest and inquired about Nassir, but nothing has been finalised yet.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that the Brazilians will wait until they are sure of what Yanga SC will do, before registering him.

The insiders added that although the Ethiopian has been training with the rest of the squad, he is not in the technical team's plans for this season.

"There were a few things which the player, his representative and Sundowns had to sort out for everything to be in order. Now, since he is set to not be in the plans of the new technical team then they don't want to register him but they are also waiting to hear from Yanga on their final decision," said the Siya source.

"So, for now he will continue to train with the team but won't be registered until a decision from Yanga on a loan deal is reached. That's where things are with Abubeker (Nassir) at the moment," the source added.

A second source stated that Yanga SC had made an initial proposal to Sundowns about Nassir, but nothing substantial had come out of it.

"Yanga is also waiting from Sundowns. They made an initial offer though it's for a loan move. Sundowns are looking at both a loan or permanent move depending on the offer because he is still under contract at Sundowns, and as you know, most foreign players at Sundowns are on good salaries," said the second source.

"So, all those things have to be considered before the final decision is made. But I don't think he will be registered until they hear from Yanga's final decision," the second source added.

Nassir's future at Masandawana remains uncertain as the club awaits a final decision from Yanga SC. Until then, Nassir will continue to train with the team but will not be registered for the new season yet. Though, there's still a chance that he could play for the Brazilians if a solution is not found with interested clubs.
