Arteta Clears Air On Arsenal Future

With Mikel Arteta in the final year of his contract at Arsenal, the Spanish tactician has set the record straight regarding his future at the club.

The San Sebastian native has perhaps had a roller-coaster tenure since taking the reins at the Emirates Stadium in 2019.

The 42-year-old guided the north Londoners to back-to-back eighth-place finishes in his first two seasons in charge, but after experiencing the low of failing to qualify for European football in 2021, Arteta has gradually helped the Gunners ascend, and has now led them to successive runners-up positions in the league.

Arsenal fans will likely be hoping to see their former midfielder stay at the club for much longer than the expiry date of his current contract, which is June 2025, and it seems he is eager to continue his time with the 13-time English champions given his latest comments.

Quizzed on whether or not talks over his future would commence after the end of the transfer window, he said, as per ESPN: "Yes. The focus has been on the transfer window. We had quite a lot of things to do and discuss.

"We are on it and we will take care of that in the right moment. I am very grateful, first of all, for where I'm sitting and the people I work with every single day because it's really difficult to find that harmony, trust, belief and alignment in the vision.
