NEW: Why Pep Snubbed Ronaldo Signing At Man City

Pep Guardiola reportedly snubbed a chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester City in 2021.

The reason Pep Guardiola decided to reject the chance to sign five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo for Manchester City has reportedly been revealed.

The Portugal captain was heavily linked with a move to the Citizens in 2021, prior to his eventual move to Manchester United from Italian giants Juventus.

Ronaldo appeared set to join the Citizens in what would have been a shock transfer as per reports at the time until the Red Devils swooped in to ensure the ex-Real Madrid talisman returned to United.

According to a newly published book titled 'The Pep Revolution: Inside Guardiola's Manchester City' by Marti Perarnau, it is explained that Ronaldo did offer himself to City in 2021.

Stand a chance to win a Mamelodi Sundowns Home and Away Replica shirts for the 2024/25 season; valued at R1199 per shirt.

However, in an extract from the book, the author claims the Spanish tactician could not see how the former Los Blancos would fit into his system in England.

"He offered himself to City last summer (2021) but Pep wasn't interested," Perarnau writes, according to the Daily Mail.

"There's no question at all that Guardiola respects his immense ability to finish chances as well as his superb physical condition, but how could this type of player fit into the precision machine the Catalan has painstakingly and strategically built at City?

"Thanks but no thanks, Cristiano. Not even after City's attempt to sign Harry Kane and buy an outright centre-forward ended in failure."
