New Star 'Halts' Contract Talks For Man Utd Move

A European star is reportedly halting extension negotiations with his current club in the hopes of securing a move to Manchester United in this transfer window.

Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries is currently in the final year of his contract at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

According to The Athletic, the Netherlands international does not plan on negotiating an extension with the Serie A juggernauts until after the transfer window closes.

The reason he does not want to commit to prolonging his stay in Milan just yet is because a move to the Red Devils is believed to hold a particular appeal to him.

The 27-year-old was linked with a move to Old Trafford last season, but the switch failed to materialise then, but now it seems that the Rotterdam native is taking matters into his own hands.

The same report claims there is a possibility that Dumfries could sign for the record Premier League champions, but this would be contingent on their current right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka deciding against a move to West Ham and opting to sign for the reigning Italian champions in what would in essence be a swap deal.

United and West Ham have already reached an agreement in principle over the transfer of the London native, but it is understood that he prefers a move to Inter.

The Mancunians, on the other hand, want the 26-year-old to agree personal terms with the Hammers as their main focus at this moment is to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, and not Dumfries.
