The tournament is a first for Chiefs and will take place over the next three seasons, as confirmed at the launch, which took place at Toyota's Headquarters in Sandton.
For the first installment, Chiefs, under new coach Nasreddine Nabi, will face Yanga from Tanzania, while there will also be a curtain raiser in memory of Dr Petrus Molemela between the Kaizer Chiefs legends and the Bloemfontein Celtic legends.
"We are excited to be launching this ground-breaking initiative through our partnership with Toyota. The Kaizer Chiefs brand has been successfully built on the club's rich history of its contribution to not only South African football, but the ever-growing brand of football on the continent. In Yanga, our Club has found brand synergies that align to our objective of enhancing the African football brand, and through the Toyota Cup, we look forward to collectively working together in achieving this", Chiefs' Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung told the club's website.
