Switzerland 1-1 Germany

Germany secured top spot in Group A at the 2024 European Championship after rescuing a 1-1 draw against Switzerland.

The hosts had already secured their spot in the next round after winning their opening two matches, while Switzerland only needed a point to advance.

German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made history as he broke Gianluigi Buffon's record for most appearances at the tournament for a goalkeeper with 18 matches.

It was the Swiss who stunned the hosts into silence on 28 minutes when Remo Freuler sent a wonderful cross to the near post where Dan Ndoye was on hand to fire past Manuel Neuer.

While the Germans struggled to find an equaliser, Switzerland thought they had doubled their lead when Ruben Vargas calmly slotted past Neuer but the celebrations were cut short due to the offside flag.

However, Germany got their reward in the 92nd minute when substitute Niclas Füllkrug bagged his second goal of the tournament with a lovely to seal top spot in Group A.

Switzerland, meanwhile, qualify for the round of 16 as runners-up.

Scotland 0-1 Hungary

Hungary kept their round of 16 hopes alive after a late 1-0 win over Scotland on Sunday evening,

The Scots made just one change from the draw with Switzerland as Scott McKenna came in for the injured Kieran Tierney, while Endre Bortka and Callum Styles were recalled for the Hungarians.

Both sides had their chances in the first half, with Hungary going the closest through Willi Orban, who sent his header against the crossbar.

There was a scary moment in the second period when Hungary's Barnabás Varga collided with goalkeeper Angus Gunn and was reportedly unconscious. After a lengthy stoppage, Varga was stretchered off the pitch.

With the game heading for a draw, Kevin Csoboth popped up with the winning goal in the 10th minute of time added on courtesy of a lovely finish.

Hungary will now play the waiting game to see if they will be among the best third-place finishers in the group stages, while Scotland have been eliminated.
