Bellingham Breaks Ronaldo's Long-Standing Record

England and Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham broke a Cristiano Ronaldo record following Sunday's clash against Serbia.

Bellingham played a key as the Three Lions started their 2024 European Championship campaign with a 1-0 win over Serbia thanks to the midfielder's header.

Just by taking the field, the Los Blancos star already broke a record as he became the player to ever to compete at three major international tournaments.

According to the Daily Mail, at the age of 20, Bellingham has appeared in his third international tournament, surpassing Ronaldo who achieved this feat at the age of 23.

Ronaldo set the record after appearing for Portugal at the 2004 and 2008 European Championships as well as the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Bellingham had already written his name into the history books in the last European tournament after becoming the youngster player to feature in a game at the tournament  at just 17 years and 349 days old.

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate was in awe of the midfielder's contribution on Sunday night.

"He writes his own script. The timing of his runs. It was a super bit of play in the build-up of his play," Southgate said, as per Goal.

"I think all of our forward players looked really good. I am confident we will score goals. Playing against a back five it is not easy to create chances and we did. I liked the fact we had to suffer without the ball because that is an area we have worked on a lot this week. We were obviously much better than last week at doing that."
