With clubs and players working on their plans for the 2024/25 season, Thamsanqa Gabuza is one of the stars aiming for a return, the Siya crew has learnt.

Gabuza has been without a club since parting ways with TS Galaxy in February after only seven months with the club.

Having joined Galaxy last year after leaving SuperSport United, the veteran striker struggled for game time under coach Sead Ramovic with only eight appearances to his name in the first half of the season.

While the talk in the fraternity has been that the former Orlando Pirates star could be considering retirement from professional football, sources have indicated that the Newcastle-born player is still keen on continuing for at least one more season.

"He (Gabuza) is assessing his options regarding a possible move to a club for the new season. The guy hasn't retired and isn't talking about that at the moment. He took some time off to reflect on the challenges he faced in his personal life which affected his progress last season but he is now ready for a return," said the source.

Although he will be turning 38 next month, Gabuza remains one of the most experienced players in the league who could be useful in guiding up and coming youngsters in any ambitious club.

Meanwhile, several other ex-PSL players are working on their possible return, including former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase and the ex-Orlando Pirates duo of Nkanyiso Zungu and Mthokozisi Dube.

"Siphelele Ntshangase and Nkanyiso Zungu played in the Khabba Cup tournament in Durban last weekend. There are many of these guys who are still willing to give back to football, and among them is (Mulomowandau) Mathoho, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Siyabonga Dube – the former Golden Arrows player," added the source.
