Pitso's Camp On Relegation Heartbreak, Door Opens For Chiefs?

Pitso Mosimane's camp have lauded the coach's efforts despite being unable to avoid relegation with Abha Club in the Saudi Pro League.

It was always going to be a different challenge for the renowned coach who usually is on the top-end of the table chasing silverware, finding himself with the task of saving a club from relegation.

To his credit, Mosimane and his technical team nearly pulled off the impossible, placing their relegation status in their own hands going into the final match of the season, though ultimately it wasn't to be.

Despite falling desperately short of their mandate, Mosimane's camp MT Sports and Marketing, led by his wife and agent Moira Tlhagale commended 'Jingles' for his valiant efforts in trying to keep Abha Club afloat.

"We are immensely proud of Coach Mosimane and his technical team for their unwavering dedication and tremendous effort this season. They were brave enough to take on a challenge that most would have steered clear of. Only missing out on survival by 2 points, the progress and spirit displayed by the team under Coach Mosimane's leadership has been inspiring," Tlhagale said in a statement.

Kaizer Chiefs followers were hoping Naturena would be Mosimane's next stop. The Siya crew reported in recent months that the former Bafana Bafana mentor was Amakhosi's number one choice.

It remains to be seen if Mosimane will be available for Chiefs, but his relegation at Abha Club has opened the door slightly for the Glamour Boys.

Mosimane, meanwhile, says the experience at Abha will make him a better coach moving forward, with the coach's next move yet to be decided.

"It is incredibly disappointing to come so close and fall short. I am proud of how the players responded to the challenge and fought until the end. Their commitment and heart have been extraordinary, and although we did not achieve our ultimate goal, we can hold our heads high for the effort and progress made. Thank you to the Abha Club board, management, and fans; they have been pillars of strength throughout this challenging season. The learnings from this experience will certainly make us better coaches and players," he said.
