African Star 'Accused' Of Using Twin To Play Instead Of Him

An African international is reportedly being investigated for using his twin brother to play in official matches instead of him.

According to a report from Football Espana, Dinamo Bucharest and Guinea-Bissau defender Edgar Ie is being investigated for having his twin brother Edelino play in official matches for the Romanian side ahead of himself.

The Spanish publication cites Romanian football journalist Emanuel Rosu, who says the story comes from sources close to the club.

Edgar Ie, who played once for Portugal's senior side in 2017, is a former Barcelona player, having been on the LALIGA giants' books between 2015 and 2017 and making a solitary appearance for the team under Luis Enrique.

Dinamo Bucharest is yet to make an official statement on the developing story, although reports suggest the player refused to show the club his driver's licence, leading to an increase in suspicion.

Marca, meanwhile, claim the side could lose all eight points they gained with the man who could be his twin brother in the team.

Edgar Ie joined the Romanian giants in February as a free agent, but the club is reported to believe his difficulty speaking English and failure to provide the appropriate identity documents means they could have his brother on their books instead.

The defender has played for multiple European clubs in his career, while Edelino's last known club was said to be Tluchowia Tluchowo in Poland.
