Osimhen To Become Most Expensive African Star In History?

Victor Osimhen could become the most expensive African footballer of all time after a Premier League giant reportedly opened negotiations with his current club.

The Nigerian hitman seems destined to leave Napoli when the 2023/24 campaign reaches its conclusion.

Earlier this year Gli Azzurri president Aurelio De Laurentiis alluded to the fact that his superstar striker is likely to leave the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, and it seems his prediction will indeed be coming to fruition.

In January, the Italian executive stated that Osimhen would leave for either Paris Saint-Germain or an English giant, and according to Sky Italia, those seem like the likeliest destinations.

PSG are yet to open negotiations with the player's camp, but Chelsea are now believed to have got the ball rolling, with the same report claiming that the Blues are looking to offer a transfer fee in the region of between €80 and €90 million (R1.5 and R1.7 billion), and include Romelu Lukaku and a young player in the deal too.

Napoli's incoming sporting director Giovanni Manna is said to be a massive fan of the Belgian striker and even tried to bring him to Juventus in the last off-season when Chelsea were looking to offload their club-record signing.

While there seems to be a willingness to get a deal done from the two clubs, the transfer could be contingent on each player's desire to move to the mooted destinations.

However, before deciding on who to add to their attacking department, last season's Serie A champions need to officially appoint a new manager. Among the suggested appointments are current AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini, and multiple Italian league winner Antonio Conte.
