Messi Makes MLS History With Impressive New Record

Inter Miami star Lionel Messi made history in the Major League Soccer after netting a brace against New England on Saturday night

Gerardo Martino's charges made it three wins in a row after thrashing New England 4-1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

The 36-year-old was the star on the night after bagging two more goals and an assist.

In doing so, Messi became the first player in MLS history to register 16 goal contributions (goals and assist) in his first seven matches of the season.

Messi grabbed the assist for Luis Suarez's goal in the second half, as Martino's charges ran riot in Foxborough.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has now taken his tally to seven games in the MLS, one behind Golden Boot leader Cristian Arango.
