Villarreal and Burkina Faso winger Bertrand Traore, 28, took his career to Spain in January following a spell at Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The ex-Chelsea player is among 22 African footballers in Spain's top division competing for this season's African MVP award, which fans can vote for until 19 May to stand a chance of winning some amazing prizes, courtesy of LALIGA.

"South Africa did very good. For me, they were one of the best teams in the tournament," he said.

"They deserved to go through to the final, but I think if you see the team, the last AFCONs where they've been and then seeing them (now), I think it's a big achievement for them.

"I think they have very talented players. They need to keep on working and I think they will be a serious opponent for the next few years.

"They have many talented players. They have the striker Percy Tau, who plays for Al Ahly. I played against him in a World Cup qualifier (in 2017), he is very talented.

"Obviously, their goalkeeper was the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

"I think them and Mali, they played the best football of the tournament."
