Johnson Issues Message To Chiefs After Third Straight Loss

Johnson Issues Message To Chiefs After Third Straight Loss

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says they only have themselves to blame after suffering a third straight loss in the DStv Premiership.

The Soweto giants find themselves in tenth position on the table after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Richards Bay on Sunday afternoon.

The Chiefs tactician insists the Amakhosi had enough chances to win the encounter on the day, especially after dominating possession.

"We missed so many chances, we had to be calm on the ball in the first-half, I think it came in the second-half as well, where like you say, we had 85% ball possession and we're just not calm enough to put it in the back of the net," Johnson said on SuperSport.

"And I think that's the only shot they had on goal, was the corner-kick where they scored from and what can we do? It's like a stuck record, we've got to go back, make sure we're able to put the ball in the back of the net because everything is there, we're just not putting the ball in the back of the net. So we're gonna go back there and try again."

When asked if the players must take responsibility, he replied, "I don't it's the players, it's all of us.

"We have to take responsibility. I have to do something else, it starts with me. We have to do something else to make sure that they are in the right space and mind, and look at what we do during training and that gives them a bonus to play these games.

"And when you see, like you say, 14 shots at goal, guys come on we have to put two away. We cannot allow, I think this is probably the third team we're playing against that their goalkeeper is the Man of the Match.

"So we have to look at that as well, it's not possible for the goalkeeper to be the Man of the match against us. We've got to pull up our socks. It starts with me and the players will follow."
