Rugby Player Honours Tshabalala with Iconic Celebration

What's the story?

In Monday's Varsity Cup rugby action, a University of Free State (Shimlas) player paid special tribute to Bafana Bafana legend, Siphiwe Tshabalala.

The Shimlas player, Zane Bester did Tshabalala's momentous goal celebration from Bafana's opening 2010 FIFA World Cup match at the FNB Stadium.

Siphiwe Tshabalala's goal celebration in Bafana Bafana's opening 2010 FIFA World Cup match has gone down in history as one of the most memorable World Cup moments in recent times.

The "Shabba Dance" is enjoying a bit of a resurgence after Atletico Madrid players Antoine Griezmann and Rodrigo De Paul did it on Saturday to celebrate one of the Frenchman's goals in Atleti's 3-1 win over Girona.

Shabba's celebration has reached the rugby field after Shimlas centre Zane Bester intercepted the ball to score a converted try, helping his team beat the University of Stellenbosch – he went on to celebrate in true Shabba style:
